"The best kept musical
secret in the county." In the words of one recent
concert-goer
We have about two hours
of our own eclectic yet cohesive originals, from which
we crafted and released our first CD, "ROCK STEW",
in June, 2001.
PAST PERFORMANCES
include opening for The Doors at the "world famous"
Whisky A GoGo, Jason Bonham, Little Feat, Canned Heat
and Steve Vai at the Majestic Ventura Theatre;
Also, featured attractions including Common Sense,
Max Karl and Big Band (featuring Glenn Frey
of the Eagles), and The Young Dubliners,
have gained us quite a reputation.
Our mission is to
have fun and project it to the audience, so they may pick
it up and offer that energy back ; i.e., synergy!
For over 5 years,
ROCK STEW has been dishing out its innovative helpings
throughout Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties.
PLAYERS:
LEAD GUITARIST/COMPOSER
PER CHRISTIANSEN infuses
his unique, jazz-fusion style fretting to the more relaxed
offerings of fellow co-founder and composer of many of
ROCK STEW's originals,
RHYTHM GUITARIST/VOCALIST/COMPOSER
MAURICE MITCHELL - folk-rocker
"Mo" brings his expansive repertoire of originals to the
mix. Whether playing 12-string or electric guitar, mandolin,
harmonica, or any of a host of other instruments, Maurice's
straight- forward approach balances well with Per's more
complex interpretations.
DRUMMER MIKE
WEAVER sends a strong sophisticated beat right
down the middle that ties the diverse elements together
and create a formidable rhythm section with
BASSIST CHRIS
MILLNER. Chris is the "UFO" usually seen bouncing
around toward the rear of the stage. Deep in the pocket,
Chris is "the glue" and is renowned for his ability to
take a Celtic lilt and transform it into a free-form funky/World
Beat groove (when appropriate). cm.millner@gte.net
VOCALS/LEAD
COW BELL CHUCK "MONSTER" CORDERO
- Chuck brings to the table, a powerful and unique rock
N roll vocal style. Chuck's influences range from Freddie
Mercury to Ozzy Osbourne and when he's not crooning with
Rock Stew, he also enjoys playing with his Heavy Metal
band 4DK who just happen to be reforming. Anyone interested
should contact Chuck at chuckc@yardi.com
KEYBOARD/HARMONICA
DAVE
RICKARD
- Dave came to us from LA, his big influence, The Paul
Butterfield Blues Band. After he toured with Albert Collins
in the late 70's Dave finished college at Cal Poly in
SLO town in the early 80's. From there Dave jammed with
bands like Fleetwood MAC, Buddy Miles (before jail), Paul
Julian, RAT, and W.A.S.P.. Really, Dave dedicated his
work with kids, so he stopped the tour scene until he
came to Santa Barbara and met up with Chris Millner the
bands bass player.
ROCK STEW
appears regularly in the Santa Barbara area, with concerts
from San Luis Obispo to Los Angeles. Appearances in The
Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Celebration and Ventura
County Fair also raised many eyebrows.
Get up and dance
or watch from your seat, ROCK STEW will keep you guessing
and entertained...We promise.
PLEASE CONTACT:
Chris Millner at (805) 962-6904 cm.millner@gte.net
for more information or to respond about working together.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
THE MEMBERS OF
ROCK STEW
