Karen Tyler is an award winning singer, songwriter and guitarist. Influenced
by acoustic blues greats such as Memphis Minnie, Lightinin' Hopkins, Sippie
Wallace and Blind Willie McTell, Tyler has managed to approach the
blues from a similar perspective as her heroes while carving out her own niche
in the contemporary acoustic blues world.
Karen, recently transplanted from Austin, Texas to the central California coast,
was a 1993 Kerrville New Folk Finalist and honored Texas Songwriter in 1995
& 1996. Most recently she was voted the 4th Best Acoustic Blues Female
Artist, 5th Best Acoustic Blues Guitar Player & 6th Best Acoustic Blues CD in
the nation in the Delta Snake Blues News reader's poll. Karen
placed alongside acoustic blues greats such as Keb 'Mo, John Hammond, Rory
Block and Alvin Youngblood Hart. Real Blues magazine
gave Karen's "Lovin' the Blues Too Long" CD "5 bottles
for a star on the rise." Her new release is "Alone
and Blue". This will be a star that you will want to keep your
eye on.
